How Maker Tool Stack collects and uses data.

Maker Tool Stack (makertoolstack.com) is an independent comparison and tools site for Etsy and handmade sellers, operated by the site owner ([email protected]). This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how you can contact us.
Who this policy covers
- Visitors to makertoolstack.com and related marketing pages
- People who email us or use optional forms (for example the stack quiz)
- Google account holders who authorize our private OAuth clients used only to operate this site (analytics APIs and YouTube publishing for Maker Tool Stack channels we own)
Information we collect on the website
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are useful. Analytics may collect approximate location, device/browser type, referring site, pages viewed, and similar usage metrics. We configure analytics for product improvement — we do not sell personal information or use this data for third-party advertising networks.
Affiliate and outbound clicks
Some product links are affiliate links (see our affiliate disclosure). When you click an outbound or affiliate link, we may record an anonymized click event (destination, page path) in analytics so we can see which recommendations help sellers. Purchases happen on partner sites under their own privacy policies.
Email (optional)
If you request quiz results or opt in to weekly tips, we process your email address to deliver that message. Tip broadcasts are optional and unchecked by default. You can unsubscribe using the link in those emails.
Cookies and similar storage
The site may set cookies or local storage for analytics and basic site function. You can block cookies in your browser; some measurement features may stop working.
Google OAuth used to operate Maker Tool Stack
The Google Cloud OAuth client branded Maker Tool Stack is a private operations tool for the site owner. It is not a consumer login for visitors of makertoolstack.com. When the owner connects a Google account, the app may request access only for these purposes:
- Google Analytics / Search Console APIs — to pull site traffic and search performance reports into our private dashboard
- YouTube Data API — to upload and manage videos on YouTube channels we own that promote Maker Tool Stack content
OAuth access tokens are stored privately (local secrets and encrypted CI secrets). We do not share Google account data with advertisers. We do not use this OAuth flow to access unrelated Google data (Gmail, Drive, Contacts, etc.). You can revoke access anytime at Google Account → Third-party access.
Chrome extension (TrueMargin)
The separate TrueMargin privacy policy covers the Chrome extension. TrueMargin calculations run locally in the browser.
What we do not do
- We do not sell personal information
- We do not require an account to browse guides and free calculators
- We do not use visitor OAuth “Sign in with Google” on the public site
Children
Maker Tool Stack is a business/research site for adult sellers. It is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do.
